Aiki Extended 2018 - Burwell

You are invited to participate in a festival of aikido, where we will explore the principles of aikido both on the mat, but also by participating in various workshops that explore how these same principles can be used in off the mat situations or in related arts. You will be able to benefit from the knowledge of over 20 teachers, coming from many countries, and varied aikido backgrounds plus a few other related disciplines. Between them the knowledge is simply vast. It is a rare opportunity to explore different aikido traditions and to see the big picture of what aikido is all about.

Kayla Feder Sensei (6th Dan Aikikai) - Burwell

Although this isn't the first time that Kayla Sensei has taught in the UK, it is some years since she was here, so I'm delighted to host her now. Kayla is vastly experienced, (see below), has an engaging teaching style and her aikido is powerful, smooth and efficient, as you might expect, given the great teachers she has studied with. It's really important to her as a teacher to be very mindful of what the founder taught and if you want a clearer insight as to what he saw as important, then Kayla Sensei will provide it.

Kayla Feder Sensei began her Aikido training in 1973 at the age of 9 and has trained continuously for 44 years. She studied directly under Morihiro Saito Shihan, 9th dan traveling to Iwama, Japan in 1980. Saito Shihan was an apprentice to the founder, Morihei Ueshiba (O Sensei). He was one of O Sensei’s longest training students. In subsequent trips to Japan Feder Sensei trained with a number of other Shihan who trained under the founder.

Feder Sensei has also trained with and been strongly influenced by Doran Shihan, Nadeau Shihan, Saotome Shihan, and Ikeda Shihan. She received the rank of 6th dan in 2004.

Feder Sensei is the dojo cho at Aikido of Berkeley in California, which she founded and owns having opened her first aikido school in 1981.

ADL Autumn Seminar - 12th & 13th November, Horsham.

This will be held at Rusper Aikido Club which is about 20 minutes away from Gatwick airport. This will be a free Aikido event for Aikido for Daily Life members. This is an open event for all aikido practitioners regardless of style or organisation!

Food and drink will be provided on both days with a social evening/dinner on the Saturday.

For those that need a place to stay, again we will try our hardest to provide beds etc. with local Aikidoka.  Alternatively, we can point you in the general of some nice places to stay nearby.

Guest Instructor:

Williams Timms Sensei (6th Dan) began practising Aikido in 1971 and is a member of the Governing Board of the Institute of Aikido.  For those that have not had the pleasure of meeting Williams Timms, I can assure that he brings a wealth of experience (and comedy!) to the mat and will be well worth the trip.
